and the Carmex came back

I have a small jar of Carmex that I used for chapped lips (and it's wonderful for that). Alas the Carmex keeps disappearing, then reappearing in unexpected places.

This morning, after a two-day absence, it showed up in the change pocket of my backpack. I didn't ask any questions. We'll see how long it stays this time.

Note: Apparently, Carmex is addictive. This explains a lot.

SALE! To Coyote Wild!

(The contract has been signed, so I can now announce this!)

Coyote Wild Magazine is buying my story "When Lina Went On The Lam" for the upcoming YA heroic fantasy issue, guest edited by Sherwood Smith aka sartorias.

WOOOOHOOOOO!!! Happy Writer Dance, Happy Writer Dance!!!

I'm very stoked about this sale. Sherwood herself is way cool, and she used a jury of teens to help her decide on stories. The fact that they chose my story gives this sale extra meaning.

"When Lina Went On The Lam" is, as I describe it, a "steampunk, girl-power, kitchen-sink-adventure" retelling of the Thumbelina fairy tale. I was reading fairy tales to my daughter one night and while we read "Thumbelina" I was cringing and commenting the whole way, thinking "here's what this story should *really* be like." The first line came to me, along with a character that was an amalgam of my two daughters (ages 14 and 8), and I was off and running.

I'll put an entry up once the issue is online. Woohoo!!!
