report on today's bike ride

Total of 20 miles, from house to Ancil Hoffman Park, on bike trail from Hoffman to Sac State, back up bike trail from SacState past Hoffman park to Hagan park, Hagan park back to Hoffman park, and back home.

It took about 1:20, including having to stop for a while at Every Single Light and an easy cool-down the last mile. It felt like it was uphill and into the wind, Both Ways.

Sights included:
- folks riding three across on the trail, thus halfway into my lane (um, hello?)
- some folks riding while wearing ipods (um, hello?)
- the guy who rides his bike and juggles (uh, dude?)
- many, many squirrels, including one who rushed at me then stopped right before my wheel (change of mind)
- a pickup truck and a mower on the trail (yikes!)
- assorted nature

Now I get to eat my chicken wrap. Mmmm, chicken wrap.

fun and nerdy links for the evening

All of these links come from Good Morning Silicon Valley, which if you're not reading you should be. Chock full of nerdy Silicon Valley goodness it is, from business and culture news to funny geeky things.

- The Timeline of Internet Memes. Very cool, especially because of all the links. But, I remember just about all of these, so where's those pre-1990 memes (like the great Usenet rearrangement)?

- Top 10 Most Brilliant Gadgets of the Year (With Videos!) (at Popular Mechanics). Mmmmm, gadgets. Lots and lots of gadgets.

- Laid Off by Lehman (at The Mess That Greenspan Made). OK, not nerdy but funny. This looks like an interesting site, overall.

- Scrolling Sky Slices (at Sloan Digital Sky Server). Stars, lots and lots of stars. Cooooooooooooool.

- Soft Drink Can Generator. Cause we all know it's the can that makes the difference. Crab Juice Pow, anyone?

- Poladroid, the Polaroid Image Maker. From pictures to "Polaroids" that you can print. Excellent.

- Designate - The Easy Way To Make Decisions. Enter question and options, get the decision. Ha!

two more links of coolness

- India's unmanned moon mission may launch race for lunar landgrab. India is going to the moon! Writers, time to revise your world-building.

- Top 10 New World-Changing Innovations of the Year (With Videos!) (from Popular Mechanics). Really cool and awesome innovations, many of them related to the "appropriate technology" movement. This deserves much much further scrutiny and detailed reading from me.
