tweets for the day

(Posted here for reference. At twitter, I'm "yeff")

  • 10:08 at work, sore from weightlifting for the first time in almost 2 months. #
  • 11:43 getting lunch at the cafeteria #
  • 12:11 wondering if there is a way to see more than 20 tweets at once on my Twitter page. oh, and eating a chicken burrito #
  • 13:15 back at working, now that a LOST post has been made and burrito has been eaten. #
  • 13:25 @steviechuckles So "achieve" is a code phrase for "spay"? I guess I should watch my work goals and evaluations more carefully... #
  • 17:18 @steviechuckles I misapprehend on purpose. But remember this misapprehension when the wife says "what did you achieve today?" :-) #
  • 17:22 frakity frak Live Journal pain in the butt that *is* my password frakity frank. Luckily, password is easily reset. #
  • 17:30 the downside of "Trying to Eat Less, Day 1" is that I'm really hungry all the time... #
  • 17:58 and on that note, it's time to go home, with a stop by the grocery store on the way. #
  • 17:58 at home, hopefully I'll work up the gumption for revising a story even though I look at it with dread. #
  • 21:20 getting up the gumption to get a revision going. why do I hate it so? #

sometimes the brain has a mind of its own

A night spent dreaming about various troubling scenarios, such as a post-apocalyptic world ruled by packs of undead children. Think Star Trek "Miri", with vampiro-zombies. Other dreams involved a cataclysmic boat ride and an emotionally sad episode. Luckily, I don't remember the details.

Then, a morning getting everybody ready for school while the song "I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls runs through my head. Non-stop.

What the hey?

OK, time to get moving again.

tonight it's climb then write

As a member of the Climbing Club/Team, A gets one free guest pass per month. Since guest fee is at least $10, it's a good deal. We either use it to take one of A's friends climbing on the weekend, or I use it.

January's pass expires Saturday and we won't be going this weekend. So I get to use it. I'll tackle a bunch of boulder routes left over from the competition earlier this month, and do some work in the all-natural "cave". It's a little extra exercise, which is good.

Since I usually write while A is climbing, I'll have to write when we come back. I'm sure part of my desire to climb is avoidance of revising stories. Bad me. But there are many night-time writing opportunities coming in the next five days. The revisions will get done. I guarantee it! You can hold me to it.

random things make a post

While at the Home and Landscape Expo on Saturday, we ran across SnapHeat. It's a small company selling portable hand warmers. The nifty thing about these is that they're completely reusable.

The thick plastic packet holds a supersaturated solution of sodium acetate. Clicking the small metal clicker is enough energy to set off a crystallization process that generates heat for 30 minutes to 2 hours (depending on size of packet). To reuse them, you put them in simmering water for about 10 minutes then let them cool to room temperature in the water.

C loves them, as she can use them to warm her hands before seeing patients in the ER. E loves them cause they're warm. A likes playing with them. I think they're way cool. SnapHeat FTW, all the way around!

Twitter is really ticking me off. Ever since I switched from "jeffsoesbe" to "yeff", neither Firefox nor IE want to remember that I'm logged in (even though I click the checkbox on the Twitter login page). So I have to log in every single time. Sheesh.

Also, surely somewhere there's a setting allowing me to see more than 20 tweets on a page. Anyone know the secret?

Today, all the red lights are belong to me. I swear that on the way to and from work I stopped at 75%-80% of all the red lights on my route. And, I was driving the speed limit! (I'm a speed limit driver). Talk about aggravating.

Climbing was fun tonight. I did various and sundry boulder routes, mostly ones left over from the earlier Friday Flash competitions. I also played around in the all-natural room and on the wall next to the kid area. After an hour and a half my hands were dried meat and my arms were wiped, so I sat and read my Antikythera Mechanism information and wrote up some initial notes for the story. And had a muffin. Bad Yeff!
