nice news for a couple of my stories

The Google Alerts for "jeffsoesbe" and "Jeff Soesbe" at times bring me good news about nice things happening to stories. Here's a quick summary of things from the last couple months.

"The Very Difficult Diwali of Sub-Inspector Thurumala Naidu" has gathered many small and nifty accolades since being published in DayBreak Magazine back in October:

- Jetse de Vries, editor of DayBreak Magazine (and the Shine Anthology coming soon), nominated it for the Million Writers Award. Thanks Jetse!

- It received at least one nomination for Short Story over at the BSFA awards!

- Third place (so far) in the DayBreak favorite story poll!

- Not Free SF gives it four out of five stars!

- Science Made Cool, Big Dumb Object, and Matrix Online all said nice things about it!

Finally, Best Science Fiction Stories put "Apologies All Around" on its list of Best Flash Fiction Stories of 2009.

Very nice news for these stories - makes a guy want to keep this writing thing going, it does!

  • 14:07 amazing to see how many biathletes (ski/shoot) just nailed all give targets in the first round. #winterolympics #fb #
  • 21:32 Those are interesting outfits from the Canadian ice dancers - like DUKES OF HAZZARD meets BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN #winterolympics #fb #
  • 21:46 Ice dancing is just one wacky event, what with the crazy costumes, over-enthusiastic gestures, and jumpy, skippy music. #winterolympics #fb #
  • 22:14 I do like the Indian music being used by the US couple in their free dance in ice dancing. #winterolympics #fb #
