back into writing with "Owl" and "Killer Dog"

I took "Owl, Cat, Cigarette", the flash I wrote a week ago, and sent it to Mary Rosenblum who very kindly agreed to read it and send her thoughts. She was very positive, said it was a nice literary metaphor story, and urged me to send it to F&SF and see what happens. That's exactly what I'm going to do. If it's a bit too odd or adult (due to the nature of Owl and Cat's relationship), then I'll try Flashpoint (Mary's suggestion) or one of the smaller presses like Polyphony or Lady Churchill's Rosebud Wristlet.

Started back in full tilt on the "Case of the Killer Dog" rewrite. I removed a couple scenes and am trying to tighten up the prose while taking it a step further into the noir sensibility. I'm going to use it as my application story for both Viable Paradise and Orson Scott Card Bootcamp, so I want it to be good. I figure I'll be done by Monday. I still think I could use a new title, but nothing is coming to mind.

After "Killer Dog", it's the "This Moment" rewrite and then I jump into writing "Walls of Stars Like Eyes" for June. Things are moving along nicely.
