three weeks. hrm.
io9 has a links to a whole bunch of newly-released WATCHMEN pictures in their newest article about the movie. There's some excellent pictures in there. Here's Karnak:

As a big WATCHMEN fan from when it first came out, when I obsessively poured over every issue over and over again to try to figure out what was happening, I'm so looking forward to this movie. It really looks like it will be the graphic novel come to life. Whether that's a good thing or not, I'm not so sure. Will it work for the non-WATCHMEN-obsessed public, I don't know.

But it's three weeks away. After that, we'll know for sure. All I know is this: I'm so there.

(ps - I did figure WATCHMEN out, for the most part, right around issue #6. It remains one of my claims to glory from my comic book days. Even though I knew what was going to happen, watching it unfold was still supremely awesome.)

The trailer and pictures do indeed look cool. I need to get a move on and read the book! Sounds like I'm in for a treat :)

I might suggest watching the movie, then reading the book. Because I think if one reads the book first, one might be disappointed that the movie had to cut down or simplify things.

But if one sees the movie, then the sheer depth of the book can only expand the enjoyment of the story.

The only issue might be if the movie, without the depth of the book, doesn't make as much sense. But from what I've seen of the movie previews, I think it's going to work. especially for folks who are comic book / superhero / speculative fiction fans...

Either way, have fun!
