TV Comment: LOST, season 5, episode 13 "Some Like It Hoth"
Season 5, Episode 13
"Some Like It Hoth"

Miles, Miles, that crazy guy. He talks to the dead. He bleeds from his head. When he time travels on the iiiiiisland. But why? Let's find out.

And certainly something about Star Wars, given the title.

Yeff's Predictions for this Episode:
- We learn Miles has been on the island before (because he's Pierre Chang's son!)
- We learn why Miles can talk to the dead (because the Island gave him that ability)
- We learn why Hurley got on Ajira 316 (this is a long shot)
- We learn more about the Swan Station (mmmmaybe)

LOST likes to use these scenes where we see people we've never seen before, and then we learn who they are. It's Miles! And he's seeing dead people.

We're back to right after Sawyer and Kate gave Ben to the Others/Hostiles. Miles must run an errand into hostile territory with a mystery bag. Interesting. The errand is dead-body-related. Couldn't see the logo on the jackets of the two guys with Radzinsky.

Gotta love Punk Miles, with all the piercings in his face. I'm guessing "dad" died in the Purge, right? Maybe even beforehand.

I get the sense that Miles knows that Pierre Chang is his father? Or at least knows there is something weird about Pierre.

Ben being gone is going to be a panic, and I think it's going to become one of the factors in causing the Incident.

I thought the LOSTies figured out a long time ago that Miles talks to dead people. But will Miles run a con? I guess so. Look, it's Naomi!

It's a little late for Kate to "mind her own business".

"You're just jealous my power is better than yours" - Ha! More funny stuff from the Miles And Hurley Show.

And there it is! "that douche is my dad" Everyone who is surprised, raise your hand. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

So it is confirmed that Widmore got the airplane to put the dead people into in order to fake the crash of Oceanic 815.

And that's why Miles said 3.2 million, because it was double what Widmore was going to pay him.

Apparently the Dharma school is teaching about Egypt. That was some damn fast erasing on Jack's part - the whole middle column in nothing flat. And now the left column in zero time.

The secret fence, leading to the secret station, which is surely the Swan. The drawn out sequence of The Numbers confirms it.

Interesting that Bram used the same phrase as Ilanna (the "shadow of the statue"). So that means they're *not* linked with Widmore, and that they know a lot about the island. That was an interesting scene.

Ha! Hurley is writing "Empire Strikes Back"! Ha! How does Miles *not* know about Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back?

I like the Dharma jumper on Baby Miles. See, Miles, Dad did love you but I bet he made you and Mom leave so you'd be safe. I wonder what job Mom had.

And who is the "scientist from Ann Arbor". I bet Faraday! Yup. Knew that was going to be the end, Faraday reappearing. So where has Faraday been, how did he get off the island, and why is he coming back? That's the next episode.

No new LOST for 2 weeks? Aw man!

Well, I got barely 2 of my predictions. I was sure we'd learn that Miles got his ability from the island. Nothing on why Hurley returned, not much beyond "they're building the Swan station". Only the "Miles's dad" fact, and *everyone* knew that one.

Summary: Another "fill in the gaps" episode, this time covering Miles. I like these episodes from a character point of view, but they are just barely advancing the plot in each episode. However, when I look at the run of the last four-five episodes there has been a decent amount of plot movement. It looks like there will be more plot movement in the next episode, and then I expect massive amounts of plot development in the 2-hour finale and maybe even the episode before that. We are most certainly leading up to the Incident, and it most certainly is spurred by Ben's disappearance and thus by the LOSTies. Maybe the Incident will kick them back into their own time or into some future time.

Okay, was Bram on Ajira 316? And is he working for Ben or some third party (like what's left of the DI)?

I LOVED seeing more about Miles but I was disappointed that the 3.2 million reveal wasn't something more than doubling up.

I'm going to bet the Incident will return the LOSTies to their own time.

I don't recall seeing Bram on Ajira 316, but he could have been there and just out of what we saw on the show.

The "Ben or third party" question is an interesting one, and I bet we have a part of that answer by the end of the season.

Going "back to the current time" is what I would expect, as it would re-unite the LOSTies with the current folks. But what would be the twist? Cause we know there's a little twist waiting for us...

Well, Bram was on Flight 316 and we saw him on the beach next to Ilana when they attacked Frank Lipitas (Lostpedia: http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Bram).

I gotta pay closer attention!

Perhaps a clue: Bram is short for Abraham, I believe. We already have Jacob and Benjamin. We're only missing the Isaac generation...

And I imagine that the twist is someone will die. Maybe someones. Although I can't for the life of me bring myself to guess who might die.

Rumor is there's a big death before the end of the season. My wild guess is Faraday, or Miles.

Hadn't caught the Bram/Abraham link. They sure like their Biblical names!

Yeah, what I've heard is someone major will die and someone else major-ish (whatever that means). Unfortunately, I'm not sure that there's a Shannon or Ana-Lucia character around anymore that I pretty much don't like these days...I don't want any LOSTies to die.

One other random thing I'm noticing this season - there's no major baddie. Last season we had Keamy to really hate on. Before that it was a split between Pickett and Mikhail. Before that we had Ben and Mr. Friendly. Before that we had Ethan. This season? It's just kind of murky...Unless I'm missing someone obvious?

Sometimes the "big baddie" seems like Widmore, sometimes it seems like Ben. They're really graying the character lines this season.

Oh wait, it's Phil! Of course.
