the weekend's music discovery: Dizzy Balloon

While at UC Davis's Picnic Day Saturday, we had a chance to hear a short set by a band called Dizzy Balloon.

Much Much Fun they were. Poppy, but not corny. Musically interesting, but totally accessible. The lyrics were not stupid or rude, but positive and open with some complexity. They seemed like five young, nice, kids making fun music. We all, adults and kids, enjoyed their playing. That's rare.

Like all proper bands today, they have a website and a MySpace site and a Facebook page.

Here's a link to a YouTube video with one of their songs. Check em out! They're already playing big gigs in the Bay Area and played SXSW in Austin. Looks like they're on their way.
