the weekend that was busy busy busy

It was certainly a busy weekend, chock full of Mothers' Day related events.

Friday night C and I went downtown and met up with the footy folks to watch Geelong do some damage to Sydney. Chatted about footy and other subjects, had some beers and some pizza, and had a good time hanging out with the young folks at the sports pub.

Saturday day C and the kids and I went to the Whole Earth Festival at UC Davis. Music, food, vendor booths, ecology related demonstrations and events. We also met up with my sister S and my mom and all involved had a good time.

Saturday night C and I went out to dinner with some neighborhood friends JC and CC, to a very good restaurant downtown. We had a great time talking and enjoying the food and wine. We planned on hitting the Second Saturday Art Walk in mid-town but by the time we got there most of the studios had closed and the event had morphed into a large, raucous street party. JC and CC needed to head out so we called it a night at that point.

Sunday morning I got up and made crepes, which I haven't done in a while. They were good, especially the buckwheat crepes. C had to go to work, so the kids and I headed up to my sister's house for delicious lunch/brunch cooked by her wife D for Mom. The food was marvelous, and then the kids and Mom and S and D played Killer Bunnies while I ended up taking a nice nap on the couch.

Sunday night we went over to C's parents' house for Mothers Day casserole and hanging out. The casserole was awesome, along with the cheesecake dessert, and I ate too much even though I'd been eating all day.

Finally we made it home, got the kids to bed, and crashed. I was certainly pretty wiped out after the weekend.

Needless to say, not much else happened including any writing. But the weekend was a great time and a marvelous set of Mothers' Day celebrations!
