This episode; Sawyer, here and sideways. And maybe even Charles Widmore. In a submarine!
Interesting point: "recon" could mean "reconnaissance", or "recon" could mean "re-con" as in "to con again".
So Sawyer has been hanging at Claire's hut since he and Locke were in the cave. And now he tells Jin he's "with" Locke.
Sideways Sayer is still a conman, but now the mark is on to him. But now he's a cop. That's certainly a twist on the Sawyer we thought we knew But he's still working with Miles.
Seems like the ex-temple people don't know that Locke is the Black Smoke.
Sideways Anthony Cooper! Wasn't that Locke's dad? I wonder if in the Sideways world, Sawyer's parents were still killed because of the con man. Might the date that Miles brings along be someone we know? (works at a museum). My guess is Juliet, or Ana Lucia.
"It's either kill or be killed" - that's *such* Smoke Monster logic.
Smokey needs a plane to get off the island? That's rather interesting. I thought all the Ajira people came over to the main LOST island. So who might Sawyer see over there? Perhaps Charles Widmore and his people? And is that to whom Smokey was referring when he said "do us harm"?
I'm wrong. It's Charlotte. I should have guessed, from museum.
And yes, his parents were killed in Sideways Timeline too.
Sayid is not okay. Claire wants Kate dead.
I'm not sure what Sawyer's noticing here - a path. That leads to a bunch of dead bodies. Is that the leftover Ajira survivors? Apparently so.
I thought I recognized that guy - he's Charlie's brother (in Sideways world). I wonder if Miles can talk to the dead in the Sideways world too.
So what killed the Ajira people? Smokey? Widmore? My guess is Widmore.
I wonder if Smokey's "touch" is like Jacob's "touch"
There's something creepy about the one Ajira survivor. And indeed, there was. But is it Ilana's team or Widmore's? Wheels turn within wheels.
Here comes Smokey's attempt to recruit Kate, by trying to identify with her. This "mother" story is rather odd, I wonder to what it refers.
Yup, Widmore and the sub!
A beer, a TV dinner, and Little House on the Prairie. Such is Sideways Sawyer's life. No Charlotte for him.
Ah, Charles Widmore. I realized that Sawyer has never met Charles Widmore. Good that they're getting things out in the open and that there's a complete presence of non-trust trust.
Sawyer is playing everyone against everyone. They were setting up pylons to control Smokey, and the locked closet is most certainly a Smokey-killer? (Tasmanian Devil, perhaps)
Is the Anthony Cooper that Sideways Sawyer is looking for still Locke's dad? Most certainly the car driver is Kate. And it is. Which casts a new light on the "Sideways Sawyer lets Kate in handcuffs get away" scene from the airport.
So Sawyer's plan is to take the sub. But what about Miles, and Sun and Jin and Jack and everyone else? It's everyone for themselves.
This one is all about trust, and loyalty. Who can you trust? Who can you be loyal to? Something that is always a question as far as Sawyer is concerned.
Summary: An interesting episode, not so much for the Sideways scenes but for what it brought forward in the Plane Crash Timeline. Things are being set in motion between Widmore and Locke and other will be trying to take advantage of the situation to get what they want.
Next Week: Richard! That should be (hopefully will be) interesting and revealing.
