On Saturday, both E's and A's teams had games. Alas, both teams lost. Due to strong performance in the first half, the teams moved up to the top division in the break. In the top division, you start seeing kids who are giants for their age and dwarf E and A (who are not small). The rest of the season will be interesting.
Saturday night C and I went to see "Skull at Connemara" (CurtainUp review of 2001 NY production ), the latest play at B Street. It was a very good production with fine work by all the actors, including handling the Irish accents. I did see some issues in the play itself with respect to theme and depth of character (funny, how I now see those issues everywhere). Overall, though, it was very enjoyable and one of the best shows I've see at B Street.
After the play C and I went to dinner at Mehran (SN&R review), a relatively new restaurant in Sacramento that features "Pakistani Indian Cuisine". We had goat curry, lamb kabob and okra (bhindi sabji?). Everything was excellent. Wonderfully spicy, but not too spicy, fantastic taste and plenty of food (we took half of it home because we were stuffed). Mehran was a "hey let's try there" choice of the moment and it turned out to be a great find. I hope the restaurant survives as the place was virtually empty. If you're in Sacramento, check it out!
Sunday I went to Campus Commons Golf Course and played 9 with Ross and his son. Campus Commons recently reopened after a refurbishing. It's on the river so it's very green and tree-laden and full of wildlife and the peaceful sounds of the rushing water. The course was pretty forgiving and not too long (7 par 3, 2 par 4 each about 275 yards). I ended up hitting some good shots, putting well, and ending up at just over bogey golf (always a major achievment for me).
The rest of Sunday was household stuff: laundry, grocery store, playing at the park, reading the paper, and getting ready for the upcoming week. I went to bed early so no writing occurred (shaame!) but I'll get back on it today.
This week is a busy one. C works a mix of day and nights, all week so I'll be taking the lead in keeping the ship running for kid-getting, soccer, etc. It's also the first week of Math Contest Club, so I'll have some work there. This is along with the usual weekly mix of work, writing, fitness, financial stuff, etc. Friday we go see Springsteen in Oakland (Bruuuuuuce!), Saturday we go see "Rabbit Hole" at B Street. In other words, the standard busy mode plus some extras.
